The Microsoft Word connector generates the ft:originId value of topics from the topic title as follows:

  1. Convert all characters of the title to lowercase.
  2. Replace spaces with dashes (-).
  3. Remove all special characters, except dashes (-), underscores (_), and periods (.).
  4. Remove any characters that appear before the first letter.
  5. Remove apostrophes in possessives. For example, Define a topic's metadata becomes define-a-topics-metadata.
  6. If the same topic title appears multiple times in a document, append a number to make each ft:originId unique:
  7. First occurrence: title
  8. Second occurrence: title-1
  9. Third occurrence: title-2

The default ft:clusterId, and ft:baseId value for Microsoft Word topics is the ft:originId of the document, followed by a dash (-), followed by the ft:originId value of the topic.
